The Eternel feminine : The Trial

At a time when the Women’s Strike and #metoo have raised awareness, famous heroines of literature will be put on trial for infanticide, crimes of passion, witchcraft and war crimes.

CHARLES PONCET
as lawyer for the defence

What is live streaming ?

Live streaming refers to real-time video broadcasting, a form of streaming where the broadcast is simultaneous to the video capture with no editing or modification. Directly sent over an internet platform, the video can be viewed on computer or smartphone via the purchase of an access code, similar to a show ticket (but at a lower cost).

Concept

From this fall, a new range of striking locations will be used as backdrops for Isabelle Meyer’s spectacles: a famous castle, a natural history museum and an aerodrome. The Ensemble Art-en-Ciel had its programming shaken up near the end of the season. Isabelle Meyer, Suzette Sandoz and Charles Poncet were billed to present The Eternal Feminine: The Trial on 15 March in Lausanne. The rest is history; the show was not held.

Nonetheless, Isabelle has put this period of semi-lockdown to good use by unearthing new settings for her coming productions and developing a streaming platform. However, she didn’t want to stop at just setting up a new means of broadcasting. She says:

“It’s important to bring something else to the performance and to the audience. The viewing should be enhanced by a cinematic dimension, in a compelling site; the streaming broadcast should create a virtual evasion rather than just an interlude at home.”

Isabelle Meyer, founder of Art-en-Ciel

FAQ

Do I need a special software program to access Art-en-Ciel’s streaming broadcast?

No, you don’t need any particular software or hardware. Like for all online videos, you do need a good internet connection.

What if I forget to connect at the right time?

You can access the video until the end of June for as many times as you like. You can connect during the live streaming or see it again online from the following day.

What technical parameters do I need to check?

Besides the internet connection speed, you need to turn on the sound for your computer or smartphone. Test the sound 15 minutes before the live streaming begins to take full advantage of the experience.

Can the musicians or audience see me?

No, this is not a video conference. You can see the show but nobody can see you, even if your webcam is on.

Will there be other Art-en-Ciel shows in live streaming?

Yes! We could keep the concept going if the idea of watching the shows live at home proves popular. In any event, you can already buy a ticket for The Carnival of the Animals in live streaming and on site at 4:00 pm on 27 September 2020 at the Natural History Museum in Geneva.

How can I buy a ticket if I don’t have a credit card?

You can send us an e-mail and we will give you the details for sending a bank transfer (at least 48 hours before the live broadcast).
